Scheduled Newcastle Road Overcrossing Closure Postponed

24th Sep 2015

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has announced that the scheduled October closure of the Newcastle Road overcrossing has been postponed. The previously scheduled work to lift the overcrossing as part of the Vertical Clearance project (nicknamed ‘Raise 80’) will not occur until after November 1, 2015.

The Newcastle Road overcrossing will be the 7th and final overcrossing to be lifted as part of the $36 million “Raise 80” project increasing the vertical clearance of nine structures crossing Interstate 80 between Magra Road and Loomis in Placer County. When complete, all structures will meet today’s federal clearance standards for high-profile vehicles and national defense, eliminating the need for most high-profile vehicles to use local roads as detours.

Project updates, construction schedules and project information can be found on the project’s website at www.raise80.com .
