80 Across The Top Update

80 Across The Top Update

23rd Feb 2016

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announced that the new temporary westbound traffic shift for the “Across the Top” project in north Sacramento is in place, but that motorists need to use caution and slow down to the posted 55 mph speed limit as speeding continues to be an issue for both east and westbound directions.

The far left “express lanes” were extended for westbound motorists travelling along Interstate 80 in north Sacramento with a new configuration, most notably from west of Northgate Boulevard to the Sacramento River.

Motorists travelling in the express lanes have one access point just west of Northgate Boulevard to make the Truxel exit and the Interstate 5 interchange. After that access point, express lane traffic will not have any access to local exits, including the I-5 interchange. The next available exit will be Reed Avenue on the other side of the Sacramento River in West Sacramento.

With the new configuration Caltrans reminds motorists that the speed limit for the westbound work zone continues to be 55 mph and to watch for sudden stops or lane changes.

Motorists are reminded to be alert for workers and equipment in the construction zone. For additional project information go towww.80AcrosstheTop.com.
