Below is an update from a community member who attended last nights Caltrans open house in Newcastle:

I was present at the meeting 9/10/15 and spoke with Mitch Higgins, NFPD Chief, this evening at the Caltrans open house. He stated that an engine and crew will be placed on the south side of I 80 for the duration of the time that the Newcastle overcrossing is closed. He confirmed that the engine and crew will be placed 24/7 and that the station would continue to be staffed as usual. He did not specify where the engine would be placed -- only that it would be there with crew on the south side.
