The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is alerting motorists and community residents that roadway closures for the lift of the Newcastle Road overcrossing in South Placer County will begin Monday, March 28. The Newcastle Road overcrossing closure begins at 4 p.m. and will remain closed until Thursday, April 14.

On Wednesday, March 30 and Thursday March 31, Interstate 80 will be closed from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. between the Highway 193 interchange and Sierra College Boulevard to lift the overcrossing to the federally required clearance of 16 feet, 6 inches. Motorists will utilize an eight-mile detour on Taylor Road through south Placer County during the overnight freeway closure.
