We are often looking to save you money.  Many of the times people come in for rental we like to give them the cost of purchase and rental so that they can choose from the beginning how they want to proceed.  Often projects that last 4-6 weeks make it cheaper to just buy cones, barricades, and delineators.  If they are lost or damaged, you don't have to pay for them on top of rental cost.  On the other hand if the job is only two weeks then you may save hundreds of dollars, and avoid having to store the items until the next job that needs it.  Every situation is just so different, and we like to give people options here at Sierra Safety Company.  To keep rentals uninterrupted by cancellations, and to make sure the people who need the rentals get them, we operate on a first come first serve basis.  We do not reserve rental equipment.  One thing we can rent if available is "Rumble Strips."  These are sort of an expensive must have for certain road work situations.  You would not want to have to buy a set for only one job as they cost thousands.
